About The Position

Payments Canada is seeking a Human Resources Generalist for a 6-month term position. This role is designed to support and accelerate the impact of the HR Business Partner team, acting as the central operational engine for the group. The position involves maintaining tracking workbooks, compiling feedback, and coordinating talent cycle milestones. The HR Generalist will serve as a liaison between HRBPs and Centers of Excellence, ensuring consistency and operational excellence. This role offers exposure to workplace data tracking, process optimization, employee relations, and team readiness, providing a growth path for developing HR professionals.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Human Resources Management or Undergraduate degree in Human Resources, Business, Organizational Development, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ progressive experience working in Human Resources, with demonstrated experience in a generalist position, including benefits/leaves coordination, employee life-cycle services, recruitment and collaboration with internal stakeholders.
  • Possesses sound foundational knowledge of applicable HR functions and related policies, procedures and legislation.
  • Demonstrates strong ability to provide accurate and timely HR support to various lines of business within the organization.
  • Possess comprehensive expertise in key HR areas such as recruitment, compensation, total rewards, performance management, and talent management.
  • Demonstrated experience and proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with the highest level of discretion and professionalism.
  • Eligibility to successfully complete background checks that will be carried out by Payments Canada, including criminal, credit, identity, employment, and education checks.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the Payments Industry or Financial Services sector is a plus.
  • Demonstrated continuous learning within most HR areas, CHRP/CHRL designation is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain the weekly HRBP Strategic Workbook by compiling data on turnover, leaves, performance timelines, and accommodations.
  • Serve as the central hub for business meeting prep, building and formatting standardized, polished presentation decks for client groups.
  • Coordinate with Centers of Excellence (COEs) and track meeting action items to ensure corporate initiatives and deliverables are seamlessly executed.
  • Pull and organize localized engagement data (e.g., Peakon) to help HRBPs track team sentiment and flag potential burnout risks.
  • Code and categorize qualitative themes from exit and stay interviews to identify localized retention and turnover trends.
  • Validate localized reporting hierarchies and cost centers, partnering with HR Operations and HRIS to resolve any data discrepancies.
  • Act as the first point of contact for routine policy and tool inquiries from employees and managers, escalating complex issues to the appropriate HRBP.
  • Manage the tracking calendar and documentation pipeline for active Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) to ensure milestone compliance.
  • Support case management logistics by tracking return-to-work timelines, documenting accommodation frameworks, and organizing initial case timelines.
  • Partner with the HRBP team to map current workflows, building Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and tools to streamline service delivery.
  • Maintain highly organized, secure, and up-to-date tracking logs and program documentation to support seamless information sharing.
  • Provide research, data compilation, and coordination support for localized people initiatives and corporate program reviews.
