About The Position

New-Indy Packaging is seeking an HR Generalist (HRG) for a temporary assignment of approximately 3+ months to help support the business during a leave of absence. The HRG will assist and facilitates the HR programs and processes by completing a variety of duties and projects for the New-Indy Packaging – West division of New-Indy Containerboard. Partnering with the HR team, this individual will support the department’s daily functions with a broad knowledge of Human Resources including recruiting, HR information systems (HRIS), benefits, payroll, training, union relations, and data analysis. This position is based out of Cerritos, CA and supports 3 facilities in Cerritos, La Mirada, and Ontario, CA.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or related field highly preferred
  • Strong organizational and writing skills and a sharp attention to detail.
  • Experience working in a fast paced manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of HR best practices and state and federal laws.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • 3-5 years in an HR role performing coordinator or generalist duties.
  • Bilingual in Spanish required

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the recruiting cycle by managing job requisitions, advertising open positions, sourcing candidates, scheduling and participating in screenings and interviews, and managing our recruiting partner relationships.
  • Assist in managing the new hire onboarding process from offer letter, pre-screening (background check/drug test), orientation, I-9 compliance, and integration.
  • Assist with time and attendance and payroll related tasks, including compliance, sending reminders, and sending payroll reports to appropriate groups.
  • Assist with training initiatives and compliance.
  • Assist the HR Manager on the employee relations and performance management processes, including reviews, investigations, disciplinary actions, and termination recommendations.
  • Track and manage attendance levels and meal penalties.
  • Support the compliance and adherence to the Union contract at one of the facilities.
  • Assist with the Leave of Absence and Worker’s Compensation process.
  • Support the data integrity with the HRIS Paycom system and assist with data reports for HR and other departments as needed.
  • Perform tasks in support of talent management, benefits administration, organizational development/training, performance management, and the performance review/goal setting process.
  • Assist with the creation of SOP’s and training guides for the HR department.
  • Provide strong customer service and support employees by promptly responding to questions or concerns, while maintaining a high level of confidentiality and integrity.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.
