About The Position

The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with senior HR management in supporting designated areas of a human resources department or assigned location. The HR Generalist supports the HR department in all areas including but not limited to benefits and leave, enforcing company policies and practices, administrative pay, etc.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Must be bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • An associate degree in HR or one year’s experience in HR is required.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and the public.
  • Bilingual is required (English/Spanish).
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License
  • Have a record of tuberculosis screening showing the employee is free of contagious TB.
  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance and taste or smell.
  • The employee must regularly exert up to 25 pounds of force (mopping, lifting groceries, moving furniture, cooking, etc.) and occasionally be able to perform a restraint on youth weighing up to 200 lbs.
  • Must be able to frequently maintain visual and auditory supervision of multiple children.
  • The employee must be able to make quick decisions, tolerate frustration and be able to always balance mental toughness with compassion.
  • The employee must be able to multitask.

Nice To Haves

  • 4+ years’ experience in human resources is highly preferred.
  • 2+ years’ experience in benefits and compensation, preferred.
  • 2+ years’ experience in staffing and recruitment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Administers various human resource plans and procedures for all organization personnel.
  • Conduct unemployment hearings, gathering all necessary information in preparation for hearing.
  • Process claims related to liability and Workers' Compensation; guide employees through the process; communicate with medical providers and supervisors on employees. progress.
  • Conduct onsite incident investigations related to on-the-job injuries.
  • Reply to and answer in a timely manner to inquiries from local, state, and federal government agencies relating to approved disclosure of personnel information such as legal garnishments, unemployment hearings, or verified court orders.
  • Performs tasks required to administer and execute HR programs and reporting such as compensation, benefits and leave, disciplinary matters EEO-1 reporting, affirmative action program, etc.
  • Schedules and conducts employee new hire orientation, exit, and benefits interviews.
  • Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars.
  • Ensures compliance with federal and state laws in relation to record retention (i.e., maintaining personnel files in compliance, MVR monthly reporting, etc.)
  • As requested by the supervisor, HRG will attend and participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, investigations, performance appraisals, etc.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries, including complaints from employees and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to appropriate staff or immediate supervisor.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations by reviewing policies and practices and ensures compliance by making recommendations to upper management.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in HR-related subjects, including employment law.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
