About The Position

Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS), headquartered in Torrance, California, is a premier designer and manufacturer of aerospace and industrial fasteners, latches, fluid fittings, and installation tools. Our products are used on commercial and military aircraft, jet engines, industrial gas turbines, automobiles, commercial transportation vehicles, wind turbines, solar power systems, and construction and industrial equipment. We are seeking a highly motivated and energetic Human Resource Generalist to join our team at our HFS manufacturing facility in Carson, CA.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 2 years of Human Resources experience, with exposure to employee relations
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.
  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status.
  • ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field
  • 5 years of Human Resources experience
  • HR Certification (SHRM-CP, PHR)
  • Experience in an engineering, production and/or manufacturing environment supporting an exempt and hourly workforce
  • Familiarity with human resources information systems and applications and demonstrated proficiency in computer software programs
  • Knowledge of California employment laws
  • HR experience at a large global corporation that includes partnering with an HR Shared Services function
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite with emphasis on Excel
  • Experience with Applicant Tracking Systems
  • Familiarity with human resources information systems and applications and demonstrated proficiency in computer software programs

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for employee concerns, complaints, and workplace issues.
  • Conduct prompt, thorough, and impartial investigations into employee relations matters.
  • Partner with supervisors to promote a positive, inclusive, and compliant work environment.
  • Ensure consistent application of policies, procedures, and employment laws.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential documentation of employee relations cases.
  • Support conflict resolution and mediation efforts, particularly in fast-paced, high-volume hourly environments.
  • Support all aspects of internal and external recruitment and selection processes for hourly positions.
  • Complete all new hire documents and data input.
  • Conduct phone, virtual, and/or in-person interviews.
  • Stay up to date with current recruiting methods.
  • Attend job fairs and careers events.
  • Coordinate, update, and deliver the new hire orientation program.
  • Contact new employees and prepare onboarding sessions.
  • Process employee status changes such as promotions, salary adjustments, new hires, and terminations.
  • Track and prepare reports on employee status changes for the month, quarter, and year.
  • Advise Managers, Supervisors, and leads on policies and procedures, various state and federal regulations, salary-related issues, and effective human resources practices regarding employee issues.
  • Initiate and coordinate various activities designed to promote and maintain a high level of employee morale.
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager of Human Resources.
