About The Position

The HR Generalist serves as a dedicated HR business partner for an assigned employee client group within a 24/7/365 mission-driven organization. This role is the primary HR contact for managers and employees across all shifts within the assigned group, providing comprehensive support across the full employee lifecycle including employee relations, full-cycle recruiting, onboarding, leave management, training delivery, performance management, and compliance. The HR Generalist operates with a high degree of autonomy, partners closely with supervisors across day, evening, and overnight shifts, and may assist other client groups during periods of high volume. This individual must be passionate about serving a diverse workforce and deeply committed to the organization's second-chance employment philosophy and its mission.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
Minimum 4 years of HR generalist, HR business partner, or equivalent HR experience
Demonstrated experience managing employee relations matters including investigations and corrective action processes
Experience working in or supporting a 24/7, multi-shift, or residential workforce preferred
Working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws including FMLA, ADA, FLSA, Title VII, and state equivalents
Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills with the ability to connect with employees across all roles, shifts, and backgrounds
Ability to independently manage a high volume of HR activity across a diverse employee client group
Sound judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills in handling sensitive and complex situations
Proficiency in HRIS and ATS systems and Microsoft Office Suite
Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality with sensitive employee information

Experience in a nonprofit, social services, residential care, or mission-driven organization

Responsibilities

Serve as the primary HR advisor for all managers and employees within the assigned client group, providing accessible, consistent support to staff across all shifts
Conduct thorough, timely, and objective investigations into workplace concerns
Advise and coach managers on corrective action processes, performance improvement plans, and disciplinary documentation in alignment with policy and applicable law
Administer and manage leave requests for the client group including FMLA, ADA accommodations, personal leaves, and short-term disability, ensuring legal compliance and operational continuity for 24/7 programs
Conduct stay interviews and support employee engagement activities that are inclusive of staff working non-traditional shifts including evenings, overnights, and weekends
Identify patterns or systemic concerns within the client group and escalate to the HR Manager with supporting documentation and recommendations
Support the development and implementation of recognition and morale-building programs that reach all-shift staff
Manage full-cycle recruiting for all open positions within the assigned client group, including positions with overnight, weekend, or rotating shift requirements
Develop job postings and proactively source candidates through diverse channels including community reentry programs, workforce development agencies, and recovery organizations
Conduct phone screens, coordinate and facilitate interviews, manage candidate communication, and extend and negotiate offers within approved compensation ranges
Assist other client groups with recruiting during high-volume periods outside of their support capacity
Deliver new hire orientation, ensuring the experience is welcoming, informative, and accessible for staff. Guide new employees through the onboarding process and serve as their primary HR contact during the transition period
Advise managers on compensation needs and adjustments.
Provide first-line benefits guidance to employees including plan options, eligibility, enrollment, and how to navigate benefits as a shift worker
Partner with the Benefits/Payroll Specialist on timekeeping corrections, leave pay coordination, and payroll discrepancy resolution
Support the annual compensation review cycle for the assigned client group
Deliver a broad range of training programs for the assigned client group and organization-wide audiences including new hire orientation, harassment prevention, workplace safety, and policy training
Identify skill gaps and development needs within the client group and partner with the HR Manager to recommend solutions
Ensure all HR practices within the assigned client group comply with applicable federal, state, and local law
Maintain complete, accurate, and audit-ready employee documentation for the client group
Support organization-wide HR audit activities by organizing and providing required records and documentation
Ensure compliance training is completed by all client group employees including staff on non-standard schedules
Partner with managers across all shifts to facilitate, mid-year check-in, and annual performance review processes
Provide coaching and documentation support for performance improvement plans and corrective action processes
Track performance review completion for the client group and escalate delays or gaps to the HR Manager
Maintain timely and accurate employee data in the HRIS for all client group employees including new hires, changes, and separations
Partner to/and or prepare and analyze HR metrics for the client group including turnover, absenteeism, time-to-fill, and engagement data
Conduct exit interviews for departing employees in the client group and synthesize findings to support retention planning
Manage all offboarding activities for client group separations including documentation, ensure system updates are made, and checklist completion
Maintain flexibility to support HR needs that arise outside of standard hours in support of the organization's 24/7/365 operations
