About The Position

Lakeside HR Group has been engaged by our client to recruit a Human Resources Director to join their team. Our client is a well-respected, family-owned organization in the heavy civil and infrastructure construction industry with more than six decades of history. Known for delivering complex highway, bridge, and infrastructure projects, the organization has built a strong reputation for safety, integrity, and long-term partnerships within the communities it serves. This is a strategic leadership role responsible for leading the human resources function across a multi-entity enterprise. The Human Resources Director will partner closely with owners and senior leaders to align HR strategy with business objectives while supporting a culture rooted in safety, professionalism, teamwork, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate is a collaborative HR leader who enjoys both strategic planning and hands-on leadership. This individual will guide organizational development, strengthen leadership capability, and help ensure the company continues to attract, develop, and retain top talent.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 8+ years of progressive HR leadership experience supporting executive and senior leadership teams.
  • Proven experience leading and developing HR teams across multiple locations.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to translate data into insights.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to lead training initiatives and communicate effectively with large groups.
  • Strong collaboration skills with a responsive, team-oriented approach.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to travel domestically on an occasional basis (approximately 15%).

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop the human resources team while supporting managers and employees across the organization.
  • Develop and implement enterprise-wide HR strategies, policies, and programs aligned with business goals.
  • Serve as a trusted business partner to ownership and senior leadership on organizational and people strategy.
  • Track HR metrics and analyze trends related to performance management, leadership development, employee relations, and workforce planning.
  • Develop and implement recruitment and onboarding strategies to attract top talent across the enterprise.
  • Evaluate and implement competitive compensation and benefits programs.
  • Provide insights and recommendations related to retention strategies using turnover data, exit interviews, and workforce analytics.
  • Promote HR best practices and drive process improvement through systems, automation, and scalable HR processes.
  • Provide HR guidance, tools, and resources that enable leaders and employees to succeed.
