About The Position

Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources, Administration, the Human Resources Coordinator is accountable for providing effective and efficient human resources administrative support. The HR Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the preparation and implementation of human resources plans aimed at staffing, developing and retaining a stable and competent northern workforce within a culturally safe workplace.

Requirements

  • A recognized diploma in human resources or a related field
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in human resources or related field
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check
  • Clear Vulnerable Sector Check

Nice To Haves

  • Fluency in one or more of Nunavut’s official languages (Inuktut, English, French)
  • Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut
  • Experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment

Responsibilities

  • Providing advice on the viability of proposed organizational designs and the impacts on existing staff
  • Developing draft organization charts, costing the range of options requested by management and recommending structures which improve career development opportunities for staff while supporting the concept of excellence in service
  • Coordinating the preparation of job descriptions to accurately reflect revised organizational roles and obtaining the necessary internal approvals
  • Responding to the region’s recruitment needs identified by regional managers through the submission of staff requisitions and job descriptions
  • Mechanisms to modify the workplace to make it relevant and appropriate to the application of the Inuit Employment Plan initiatives
  • Compiling statistical information and coordinating departmental input to Labour Relations Division for collective bargaining
  • Acting as the clearing house for submission of requests for services
