About The Position

The Human Resources Coordinator position provides administrative support to the HR function including data entry, file management, compliance, I-9 compliance, FMLA tracking, job postings, recruiting, new hire orientation, drug and alcohol testing program, and benefit support. The role will be an advocate for our employees and support company initiatives such as wellness, engagement, and employee recognition. Ensure Matson’s objectives, best practices, values, and culture are maintained.

  • 3 or more years of experience in Human Resources
  • High school diploma
  • Ability to prioritize and coordinate processes and procedures
  • Strong working knowledge of Federal, State, and Local labor laws
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience implementing process improvement initiatives

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Experience with Workday is highly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Maintain confidentiality of all correspondence, personnel files, medical documentation, and any HR related matter.
  • Provide support to our employees regarding questions about benefits, 401K plans, and other various programs.
  • Manage full life cycle recruitment including interviews, background screening, and onboarding.
  • Ensure our employee files, medical files, I-9s, and required state and federal postings are in compliance with Federal, State and Matson guidelines.
  • Participate on the community events committee and help plan events or projects.
  • Be an advocate for Matson in our community.
  • Perform data entry tasks.
  • Coordinate pre-employment drug testing for new hires, including reconciliation of invoices.
  • Partner with the SQES manager regarding DOT drug and alcohol compliance and manage the random drug and alcohol testing process for Anchorage.
  • Support all of the terminal locations under the Alaska division including Anchorage, Dutch Harbor, Kodiak, Tacoma, and Renton.
  • Display professionalism when dealing with employees, applicants, customers, and vendors.
  • Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of Matson’s policies, systems, and processes.
  • Assist in administering learning programs and training initiatives.
  • Be comfortable testing and utilizing AI for various HR related tasks, projects, or process improvement.
  • Meet deadlines.
