About The Position

The Human Resources Coordinator/Recruiter, under the direction of the Area Director, completes day-to-day human resources activities at the Branch Office and collaborates in relevant National Service Centre initiatives. This role handles all telephone and written inquiries relating to the hiring and selection of Field employees, collaborates with the branch Area Director and HR Generalist to develop and execute a solid recruitment strategy, and facilitates the process to post vacancies in various online and organizational venues. The position leads the interviewing process, networks through local contacts and various platforms, and represents Bayshore’s brand at external recruitment events. Responsibilities include new hire administration and orientation, prioritizing recruitment needs, thoroughly screening candidates according to policies, extending offers, and monitoring new hire retention to inform recruitment and retention strategies. The role also participates in quality activities, continuous improvement initiatives, and ongoing education, while adhering to company policies and procedures, and participating in proactive Health & Safety activities. Confidentiality of client and corporate information is paramount.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years progressively responsible and varied human resources experience.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to handle difficult situations in an objective consistent format.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Competency in keyboarding and Windows software.
  • Familiarity with applicant tracking systems, human resource information systems and other HR related software.
  • Ability to operate all standard office equipment.
  • Commitment to continued learning.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a recognized Human Resources diploma or degree program is preferred.
  • Bilingualism in English and French (both written and spoken) is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Handle all telephone and written inquiries relating to the hiring and selection of Field employees.
  • Collaborate with branch Area Director and HR Generalist to develop and execute a solid recruitment strategy.
  • Facilitate the process to post vacancies in online venues, organizations and other venues as deemed appropriate.
  • Lead the interviewing process to efficiently and effectively fill open positions.
  • Network through local contacts, association membership, conferences, educational institutions, social media and active employees.
  • Represent and promote Bayshore’s brand and value proposition at external recruitment events.
  • Responsible for new hire administration and orientation completion.
  • Prioritize recruitment needs of the branch based on guidance from Area Director and/or HR Generalist.
  • Thoroughly screen candidates while adhering to Bayshore Recruitment, Selection and Onboarding policies and standards, including referencing, security and vulnerable sector screening.
  • Extend offers and negotiate (where appropriate) in alignment with the branch needs.
  • Monitor retention of new hires and understand reasons for turnover to incorporate into recruitment/retention strategy.
  • Participate in quality activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in ongoing internal and/or external continuing education activities.
  • Adhere to Bayshore Policies and Procedures.
  • Participates in proactive Health & Safety activities while performing all duties.
  • Maintains confidentiality of client and corporate information.
  • Hire and screen Field employees according to Bayshore Home Health recruitment and selection policies and procedures.
  • Arrange interview schedules.
  • Interview potential Field employees, administer and evaluate skills tests.
  • Document personal information in human resources files.
  • Complete reference checks.
  • Arrange for police security clearances.
  • Arrange for screened applicants to attend the Information Sessions.
  • Contact applicants who did not pass the screening process.
  • Assist with the recruitment and selection of Administrative and/or Supervisory employees as requested.
  • Schedule and arrange Information Sessions.
  • Conduct specific parts of the Information Session, such as payroll.
  • Prepare photo identification cards for Field employees.
  • Maintain Field employee human resources files such that all required documentation is included.
  • Maintain past Field employee human resources files and ensure final performance reviews and/or exit interviews are included.
  • Participate in or lead the Health and Safety Program as directed by the Area Director.
  • Handle payroll and benefits-related inquiries and assist employees to complete forms.
  • Handle external requests for reference checks and verification of employment.
  • Manage Workers Compensation claims documentation including filing reports, follow-up activities.
  • Participate in the development of modified work programs as requested.
  • Maintain current knowledge of provincial legislation relating to Employment Standards, Human Rights, Workplace Health and Safety, and Labour laws.
  • Assist the Area Director to handle real or suspected violations of legislated requirements.
  • Assist with discipline and counseling of employees as requested.
  • Complete other tasks as requested.
