About The Position

The Human Resources Clerk provides administrative and clerical support to the Human Resources department in a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for maintaining employee records, assisting with onboarding and orientation, supporting recruitment efforts, processing HR documentation, and delivering exceptional customer service to employees while ensuring confidentiality and compliance with company policies and employment laws.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee personnel files, both electronic and paper.
  • Process employment-related documentation including new hire paperwork, status changes, promotions, transfers, and separations.
  • Prepare employment verification requests and other HR correspondence.
  • Assist with data entry and maintenance within the Human Resources Information System (HRIS).
  • Ensure HR records are complete, organized, and compliant with company retention policies.
  • Coordinate interview schedules between hiring managers and candidates.
  • Assist with pre-employment activities, including background checks, drug screenings, and employment eligibility documentation.
  • Prepare new hire packets and orientation materials.
  • Facilitate new employee orientation and onboarding activities.
  • Ensure all required employment documentation is completed accurately and timely.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for employee questions regarding HR policies, benefits, attendance, and payroll inquiries.
  • Direct employees to appropriate HR staff or departments when needed.
  • Assist employees with forms, benefit enrollment materials, and general HR requests.
  • Maintain a professional, approachable, and customer-focused presence.
  • Assist with attendance documentation and tracking.
  • Support HR with leave of absence documentation and administrative processing.
  • Assist in maintaining employee rosters and company telephone numbers.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Protect confidential employee information in accordance with company policies.
  • Assist with audits of personnel files, I-9 documentation, and other compliance requirements.
  • Support HR initiatives related to safety, employee engagement, and training.
  • Answer phones, greet visitors, and assist employees professionally.
  • Schedule meetings and maintain HR calendars.
  • Order office and HR supplies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
