About The Position

The Benefits Specialist is responsible for administering Vanderweil’s employee benefit programs and manages the day-to-day operations of our group benefits including health, dental, vision, FSA, disability, life, retirement plans, wellness and vendor coordination.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • 8 + years of proven experience as an HR Benefits Professional.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of employees, clients and company.
  • Must be able to work independently on HR projects and initiatives.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of ADP Workforce now preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain all employee benefit programs, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, FSA/HSA, and retirement plans.
  • Process enrollments, changes, and terminations in HRIS.
  • Ensure accurate and timely benefits deductions and collaborate with payroll to resolve discrepancies.
  • Ensuring proper notifications are sent to employees.
  • Serve as a benefits subject‑matter expert and provide guidance to employees regarding plan options, coverage, and policies.
  • Answer questions timely and solves problems.
  • Conduct benefits orientations for new hires.
  • Develop clear, user‑friendly benefits communications and educational materials.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations including ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, and FMLA.
  • Assist with annual filings such as ACA reporting, 5500 documents, and nondiscrimination testing.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and ensure audit readiness.
  • Act as primary liaison with brokers, carriers, and benefit vendors.
  • Monitor service levels and escalating issues as needed.
  • Support the evaluation and implementation of new or updated benefit offerings.
  • Maintain benefits data integrity within HRIS systems.
  • Manage the Open Enrollment Process
  • Analyze benefits utilization data and prepare reports or recommendations for leadership.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and enhance the employee experience.
  • Conduct exit interviews ensuring that employees are educated on benefit transitions
  • Coordinate and execute wellness activities
