About The Position

The Human Resources Assistant provides administrative and clerical support to the Human Resources Department to ensure efficient daily operations. This role supports recruitment, onboarding, personnel records, compliance, and employee communications while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism. The HR Assistant serves as a first point of contact for employees and applicants and ensures consistent application of HR procedures and timelines. The essential functions as shown below represent only the key areas of responsibility; specific position requirements will vary depending on the needs of the District.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, HiSET, or GED
  • Three years of administrative support experience
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Effective written and oral communication and presentation techniques.
  • Demonstrates courtesy, tact, and sound judgment in handling sensitive or confidential situations.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Attend work on a prompt and regular basis.
  • Maintain satisfactory and harmonious working relationships with the public, students, and other employees.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the hiring process by posting vacancies, scheduling interviews, and verifying credentials.
  • Manage new employee onboarding, including collection of all employment paperwork, tracking pre-employment requirements, processing paperwork, and providing timely communication to new hires.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential personnel files in HRIS in accordance with district policy and legal requirements.
  • Serve as a point of contact for employees by responding to routine HR inquiries and directing complex issues to the appropriate staff.
  • Coordinate and manage ongoing projects under the direction of department leadership.
  • Compile and integrate data from multiple sources, including department-specific systems, to produce professional reports, documents, and presentations.
  • Assist with data entry and record retention requirements.
  • Other duties, as assigned.
