About The Position

The Human Resources Assistant holds the primary responsibility of generalist human resource functions and duties in the routine management of the Office of Human Resources.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Human Resources or related field.
  • 1 year of professional experience in Human Resources or related field.
  • Ability to think critically and seek solutions which result in mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Ability to work with highly sensitive and confidential data and retain all records as such.
  • Knowledge and understanding of rules and techniques for maintaining legal records.
  • Ability to be a resourceful problem-solver.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment as a team player and provide support on a wide range of topics to University faculty and staff.
  • Demonstrated excellent relevant written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comprehensive understanding of recruiting, retention, and personnel management techniques and best practices.
  • A tolerance for ambiguity and a willingness to manage diverse and frequently changing assignments, particularly the ability to do so with a positive attitude and a sense of humor in a high-task environment.
  • Experience and knowledge of working with HRIS systems.
  • Knowledge of operation and use of various office equipment including, but not limited to: personal computer, including spreadsheet, word processing software, and integrated database program, fax machine, copier, telephone, scanner, and printers.
  • Employee in this position must have a valid Ohio driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • 2-3 years of professional experience in Human Resources.
  • Professional Human Resources Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for the HR office handling all incoming calls, employment claims and verifications, and general information.
  • Ensure office practices are held to the highest standard for confidentiality and privacy. Thoroughly documents processes and programs for full audit compliance. Responsible for file maintenance.
  • Primary facilitator in recruitment functions to include job postings, applicant tracking, applicant follow-up and hiring processes.
  • Provide employee benefits and payroll processing backup support and assistance as needed.
  • Serve as a backup support for the Title IX team.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
