About The Position

Terrapin is looking for a Human Resources Assistant to join our growing company. As a Clinton County, Pennsylvania - based cannabis company, Terrapin is a pioneer in the emerging industry. Terrapin is a cultivator and processor of high-quality medical and recreational cannabis products. With over 15 years of industry experience, Terrapin was licensed to operate in the Pennsylvania marketplace in 2017, growing to more than 200 employees. In this role, you will provide essential administrative support to the Human Resources department, assisting with the day-to-day operations of the HR team. This is a foundational role perfect for an individual looking to build a career in Human Resources, offering hands-on experience in recruitment, employee relations, onboarding, and HR data management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 0–2 years of experience in an office environment; previous HR internship or administrative experience is highly preferred.
  • Confidentiality: Strict adherence to maintaining the privacy and security of sensitive employee data.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a customer-service mindset.
  • Organization: Strong time-management skills and the ability to juggle multiple administrative tasks with a high degree of accuracy
  • Technical Proficiency: Comfort navigating MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or Google Workspace; familiarity with HR software, ATS (Applicant Tracking Systems), or HRIS (e.g., Isolved/Paragon) is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite
  • Proficient in Google Suite

Nice To Haves

  • previous HR internship or administrative experience is highly preferred
  • familiarity with HR software, ATS (Applicant Tracking Systems), or HRIS (e.g., Isolved/Paragon) is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records in the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and physical personnel files.
  • Process documentation and prepare reports relating to personnel activities (staffing, recruitment, training, grievances, performance evaluations).
  • Assist in payroll preparation by providing relevant data, such as absences, bonuses, and leaves.
  • Manage the shared HR inbox, responding to routine employee inquiries regarding policies, benefits, and standard operating procedures.
  • Assist with full-cycle recruiting efforts: format job descriptions, post open roles to job boards, and review initial resumes.
  • Facilitate the new hire onboarding process, including assembling new hire packets, managing I-9 verifications, and coordinating IT equipment setup.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of HR processes and the employee handbook.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned
