About The Position

In close collaboration with local and national teams, the Senior Director, Human Resources & Talent is responsible for leading the Montreal HR team and supporting Quebec offices. The incumbent acts as a strategic partner to both practice groups and business services, provides leadership and guidance to the team, and serves as an escalation point as required. You will be focusing on: Act as a strategic HR business partner to business services teams in the Montreal and Quebec offices, as well as to practice groups. Lead the HR team and oversee key activities and processes, including recruitment, onboarding and orientation, payroll, performance management, development, coaching, compensation reviews, leaves of absence, and departures. Approve payroll activities for the Montreal office. Work closely with office managing partners, the Legal Support Services Manager, and business services leaders. Oversee day-to-day HR operations and program administration, including ensuring efficient processes and maintaining well-organized, up-to-date documentation and records. Partner with leadership on the HR budgeting process to identify program needs. Oversee department expense approvals and ensure adherence to budget. Support national and local HR initiatives and manage complex HR matters. Plan well-being initiatives, social events, recognition programs, and social impact activities. Serve as the regional point of contact for all HR-related matters. Participate in special projects and national initiatives as required.

Requirements

  • Degree in Business Administration or Human Resources; CHRP designation strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience managing teams, ideally within a professional services environment or a law firm.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
  • Experience with an HRIS (Workday) and advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365.
  • Excellent judgment, discretion, political acumen, and interpersonal skills.
  • Bilingualism in French and English is required.
  • A good working knowledge of both languages is required, since you will communicate frequently with managers and/or colleagues in other provinces.
