About The Position

Westbank First Nation (WFN) is seeking a Human Resources Advisor-Recruitment to lead all staffing and recruitment processes. This role is critical in building a strong workforce and helping WFN meet its strategic objectives. The position oversees staffing policies and procedures to ensure WFN meets its legal obligations while also ensuring there are no limitations for hiring the best talent. Requirements

  • Degree or Post-Secondary education in Human Resources or related field required.
  • 2 years of staffing and recruitment experience, preferably in a government.
  • Experience using LinkedIn Recruiter or other online recruitment tools is required.
  • Criminal Record Check with results acceptable to WFN.
  • Maintains a high level of confidentiality and uses discretion on all matters relating to the affairs of the Westbank First Nation.

Nice To Haves

  • CPHR designation is considered an asset or working towards.
  • Experience working with UKG or Laserfiche is an asset.
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities/people considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Leading all staffing and recruitment processes.
  • Overseeing staffing policies and procedures.
  • Coordinating the full-cycle recruitment and onboarding, including preparing internal and external job postings, posting opportunities with third-party providers, scheduling interviews, verifying references, and requesting and delivering Employment Agreements.
  • Referring Managers to the HR Advisor to ensure new positions are properly established and job requirements are accurate.
  • Ensuring new hires have compiled all necessary agreements and provide necessary documentation.
  • Preparing employment opportunity postings to post internally first, where applicable, externally, and with third-party providers.
  • Coordination of Internal Career Fairs to promote vacancies, secondary to that attends external job fairs.
  • Maintaining and updating the Manager HR Recruitment Manual & the Internal HR Checklist.
  • Maintaining HR Recruitment Metrics and Stats, including gathering, analyzing, and reporting on recruitment statistics as required.
  • Collaborating with hiring Managers in sourcing, attracting, screening, and short-listing qualified candidates.
  • Collaborating with hiring Managers to ensure the interview committee is established and participates in interviews as required.
  • Supporting hiring Managers in the preparation of interview questions and testing, ensuring proper scoring methods are used.
  • Arranging interviews, ensuring to coordinate schedules of interview committee members and candidates.
  • Maintaining close communication with hiring Managers to confirm accuracy of employment offer, prior to presenting to selected candidate.
  • Ensuring that references, background checks and verifies credentials with the external service provider.
  • Assisting with recruitment and retention strategies.
  • Coordinating and completing the Summer Student Placement Program every year.
  • Participating in all Human Resources Recruitment Projects.
  • Responding to recruitment inquiries from employees and the public, external job applicants, and WFN Members throughout the recruitment and selection process.
  • Performing all duties in accordance with WFN policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Maintaining a high level of confidentiality and using discretion on all matters relating to the affairs of WFN.
  • Performing other related duties and responsibilities as necessary in the performance of the position as assigned by the Human Resources Manager and Director of HR.
