About The Position

The Florida Department of Corrections is hiring a Human Resource Specialist-SES for the Office of Human Resources, Workers' Compensation Department at its Central Office. The position manages and oversees workers' compensation administration, payroll and benefits processes, team leadership, onboarding, and reporting to support employees and management and ensure compliance and accuracy. This is not a telework position; the employee must report to the FDC office in the area served.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least two years of professional human resources or personnel experience.
• Pass a Level 2 background check before starting work.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

• At least 1–2 years of workers' compensation experience.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the main contact for workers' compensation issues and ensure accurate payroll transactions and compliance with procedures.
• Lead and supervise a team, provide guidance on HR processes, and prepare reports for management.
• Manage payroll and benefits, including processing timesheets, auditing leave balances, and handling workers' compensation cases.
• Conduct onboarding and training for new employees, explain department rules, and collect required documents.
• Use departmental systems to compile data and generate reports.
• Complete ongoing training to stay current in HR and leadership.
