About The Position

Steel Fabricators, L.L.C. is seeking a Human Resource Generalist to maintain staffing levels consistent with entity objectives. This role involves recruiting, interviewing, and selecting employees, as well as planning and coordinating new employee orientation to foster a positive attitude toward company goals. The Generalist will assist management in assessing departmental needs, organizational planning, and development, including evaluating structure, job design, and manpower forecasting. They will also plan, organize, and control departmental activities, revise position descriptions, and monitor performance evaluation processes. Key responsibilities include overseeing employee payroll processing, benefit administration, employee relations (including event planning), and compiling/analyzing HR data such as turnover and absenteeism to develop corrective programs. The role also involves engaging with outside suppliers for employee services like temporary labor, counseling employees and managers on employee relations issues, and ensuring compliance in recordkeeping and reporting related to all areas of responsibility, including I-9 forms, workers' compensation, safety, and DOT Driver certification programs. The Generalist will perform other duties as assigned by the GM.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field plus a minimum of 5 years of human resource experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to operate various types of HR software.
  • Good communication skills; verbal and written.
  • Ability to interact well with employees & vendors on all levels.
  • The employee is required to be present in the office during normal work hours to be available for one-on-one and group interactions with employees. This role also may require flexibility to work occasionally early morning or late evening hours as needed to support business operations and employee engagement

Nice To Haves

  • PHR/SPHR certification preferred.
  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish desirable but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist management in assessing departmental needs and organizational planning and development, evaluating structure, job design and manpower forecasting throughout the company.
  • Plans, organizes, and controls all activities of the department and participates in developing departmental goals, objectives, and systems.
  • Revises position descriptions as necessary; monitors performance evaluation/review processes and revises as necessary.
  • Oversee employee payroll processing, benefit administration, and employee relation’s functions (event planning)
  • Compiles and analyzes a variety of data (turnover, absenteeism, etc.) and develops programs/practices to address areas of concern.
  • Engage with outside suppliers to provide employee services such as temporary Labor.
  • Develops Employee Relations by counseling employees and other managers on various employee relation issues.
  • Ensures compliance in recordkeeping and reporting related to all areas of responsibility ensuring all are consistent with all applicable policies, procedures, laws, and regulations (i.e. I-9, workers compensation claims and return to work, safety, etc.).
  • Develops and maintains the DOT Driver certification program for their respective site.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned by GM.
