About The Position

The Public Service Commission (PSC) is seeking a Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) to join their team. This strategic consulting role is part of a client account management team, focusing on building strong client partnerships and collaborating with subject matter experts within the PSC. The HRBP will provide coaching, advice, and support on a wide range of HR topics, including equity, diversity, and inclusion; performance management; organizational structure; staffing issues; workforce planning; attendance and absence management; talent management; recruitment and selection; investigations; respectful workplace; issue resolution; conflict resolution; and interpretation of policies, acts, legislation, and collective agreements. The role supports approximately 40 HRBPs who report to nine HR Client Service Directors and serve the diverse departments of the Nova Scotia Government. HRBPs are supported by experts in various HR fields.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated success in client-focused human resources coaching and consulting, while building and sustaining relationships with a diverse client base.
  • Post-secondary education in human resources.
  • Several years of progressive, practical experience as a Human Resources Business Partner/generalist or specialist.
  • Proven experience within a complex unionized workplace and interpreting collective agreements and related legislation.
  • Technical proficiency in software applications such as Microsoft Office and related business applications.
  • Demonstrated understanding and application of the LEADS Leadership Framework (candidates will be expected to express how they have demonstrated the key behaviours and capabilities required to effectively lead in a caring and inclusive environment).

  • Keep a focus on potential system-wide impacts and implications of all decisions.
