About The Position

This position will provide human resources services for the Department of Correction Human Resources Office, specifically within the Recruitment & Selection Unit. This unit is responsible for the hiring and selection process for all positions, including Correctional Officers and Probation & Parole Officers. The selected incumbent will offer accurate guidance to managers, employees, applicants, contractors, interns, and others throughout the hiring process. Responsibilities include reviewing and rating employment applications, preparing recruitment plans, serving on interview panels, and assisting with recruitment events and employment outreach. A key duty involves entering transactions into the PHRST system, which affects human resource and payroll activities.

Requirements

  • Possession of an Associates degree or higher.
  • OR Possession of a Statewide Human Resource Certification or professional human resource certification.
  • OR One year of experience in performing paraprofessional or administrative support work for a human resource function.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Complete and accurate information on application and supplemental questionnaire including dates of employment, job title, and job duties.
  • For education and training, list name of educational provider, training course titles and summary of course content.

Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate guidance to managers, employees, applicants, contractors, interns, and others in all phases of the hiring process.
  • Review and rate employment applications.
  • Prepare recruitment plans.
  • Serve on interview panels.
  • Assist with recruitment events and employment outreach endeavors.
  • Enter transactions into the PHRST system impacting human resource and payroll activities.
  • Respond to inquiries, explain human resource services, and apply human resource laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Conduct research for professional human resource staff; collect data and gather information from employees, managers, applicants, or the public.
  • Participate in the analysis of collected data and assist with the formulation of recommendations.
  • Provide guidance and direction to employees, managers, applicants, or others in registering or applying for human resource services.
  • Process a variety of transactions by entering, updating, modifying, deleting, retrieving, and reporting on data in automated human resource information systems or other computerized systems.
  • Handle complex human resource transactions such as calculating over-payments and under-payments, resolving issues, and submitting corrections.
  • Create and maintain personnel records and files.
  • Review human resource forms, data, and other information to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Prepare correspondence, spreadsheets, and presentations.
  • Compile data and prepare reports, statistics, statistical summaries, narrative summaries, or other representations of data.
  • Participate in developing internal procedures.
  • Participate in meetings and conference calls with employees, managers, applicants, and/or the public to gather information and understand human resource problems.
  • Maintain confidentiality for all human resource related programs/services.
  • May provide guidance/direction to or oversee technical and/or administrative support personnel.
