Requirements

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to quickly learn and use the organization's HRIS / applicant tracking / talent-management systems.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • 0-2 years of experience in HR, administrative support or related functions.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally (e.g., files, boxes).
  • May need to move about the organization's facilities for onboarding/orientation activities or other support functions.

Nice To Haves

  • HR certification (e.g., Society for Human Resource Management - CP) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates recruitment tasks, such as posting job openings, coordinating interview schedules, interviewing, and conducting background checks/eligibility checks.
  • Collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for job openings.
  • Implements and oversees new hire orientation and employee recognition programs/events.
  • Maintain and update HR files, personnel records and HRIS data, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
  • Assist in routine audits of HR records to ensure adherence to internal policies and applicable laws.
  • Respond to basic employee inquiries (applicants, employees or supervisors) and route more complex issues to appropriate HR team members.
  • Help prepare HR documents and correspondence (e.g., offer letters, leave of absence letters, separation letters, orientation materials, etc.).
  • Provide administrative support for performance review cycles, training sessions, employee events or recognition programs.
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Understanding of state and federal leave programs.
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Stay informed of HR compliance trends, basic employment-law updates and internal HR best practices, and escalate any questions to senior HR staff.
  • Perform other administrative duties and HR support tasks as assigned.
