About The Position

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Human Resource Service Center (HRSC) Work Related Injury Services (WRIS) is a team of dedicated staff who are called upon when Commonwealth employees need support the most. We are looking for a customer focused, detail-oriented, and compassionate candidate to join our team as a Human Resource Analyst 1. Work focuses on managing medical w/lost time claims, modified duty and indemnity claims for a specified period of time. This position supports employees who experience work-related injuries by managing claims, providing information, and coordinating with third parties to ensure employees receive appropriate pay, benefits, and care. Success relies on maintaining and applying knowledge of relevant regulations, case law, bargaining agreements, programs, rules, practices, and policies related to injuries and illnesses at work.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of the Human Resource Management Trainee program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year as a Human Resource Assistant 2 or an Equal Opportunity Assistant (Commonwealth job titles or equivalent Federal Government job titles, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of paraprofessional analytical experience and a bachelor’s degree; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • You must meet the PA residency requirement.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
  • A conditional offer of employment may require an in-depth Pennsylvania State Police background check.

Responsibilities

  • Claims Review: Interview and gather information from the employee, supervisor, and other parties if needed to ensure accurate understanding and record keeping for each case
  • Communication Support: Provide clear information to employees, their legal representatives, and supervisors about benefits, leave, medical treatment, return to work, and related processes both over the phone and in writing
  • Document Updates: Adjust claim details and supply new information to the third party administrator as the investigation progresses
  • Return Strategy: Work with the third party administrator to plan effective approaches for safe employee return to work
  • Leave Processing: Enter absences, long-term leave, and special actions; approve or reject requests based on documentation and claim status
  • Inquiry Response: Research and resolve inquiries and discrepancies, explain overpayments, and provide assistance to litigation analysts if needed
