About The Position

Dr. Sarah Myruski of The Emotion Development Laboratory at The Pennsylvania State University seeks a full-time Human Research Technologist to serve as a research assistant. The Human Research Technologist will have the opportunity to work on NIMH- and Penn State-funded studies investigating anxiety and digital media use in adolescents, with a focus on emotion regulation and neurophysiological mechanisms. This work will take advantage of the University’s broad resources, including the Child Study Center.

Requirements

  • Excellent interpersonal skills; inclusive and respectful when working with others
  • Effective verbal and written communication abilities
  • Proficiency with core Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • A willingness to learn and develop additional computer skills related to data management and preparation of data for analysis
  • Associate Degree
  • No prior relevant work experience required; previous relevant work experience accepted in lieu of education.
  • PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

  • Research and/or professional experience with adolescents is highly preferred.
  • Experience processing data using relevant software programs (e.g., SPSS, R, Qualtrics, BVA, Mindware) is also highly desired.
  • A Bachelor's degree in psychology or related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with research participants to schedule data collection sessions
  • Conduct participant intake meetings and clinical interviews
  • Conduct EEG/eye tracking visits with participants
  • Assist with survey data collection including ecological momentary assessments (EMA)
  • Organize lab materials
  • Attend lab and project specific meetings
  • Maintain equipment checks; troubleshoot for technical problems
  • Oversee and assist undergraduate student researchers with completion of projects
  • Collect, process, and analyze psychophysiological data
  • Aid in human subject protocols and consent forms
