About The Position

The Family and Community Medicine (FCM) Residency at Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center is looking for a Human Research Technologist to support the residency program. The position will also assist FCM faculty with their research by providing various tasks related to study management, data collection, and manuscript preparation. The role involves integration and collaboration with multiple residency programs and the FCM Research Division to foster research projects and development. Candidates should be able to work independently, possess strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, and be able to contribute to research missions. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year with the possibility of re-funding. The FCM Research Division focuses on primary care-based research in areas such as cancer prevention, healthy lifestyles, disease prevention, mental health, substance use, and health disparities.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree
  • No prior relevant work experience required; previous relevant work experience accepted in lieu of education (if filled as Human Research Technologist - Health and Medicine - Professional)
  • Associate Degree
  • 2+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted (if filled as Human Research Technologist - Health and Medicine - Intermediate Professional)
  • PA State Police Criminal Background Check
  • PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form
  • Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite of programs

Responsibilities

  • Preparing study IRB materials
  • Study participant recruitment and enrollment
  • Study payment via Greenphire
  • Assisting with conducting and coding interviews
  • Literature reviews
  • Data collection for quantitative and qualitative study protocols
  • Data management – Development and maintenance of REDCap databases
  • Study closeout procedures
  • Manuscript writing/preparation, as appropriate
  • Abstract/poster submission drafting
  • Attend monthly Collaboration meetings with Penn State Health, St. Joseph’s Hospital and University Park
  • Assisting with implementation of resident and faculty scholarly activity curriculum
  • Integration and collaboration with all three Family and Community Medicine Residency Programs and the FCM Research Division to foster research projects and development.
