About The Position

The Penn State College of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health, in Hershey, PA is seeking a candidate for a Full-Time Human Research Technologist (Sleep) to explain study aspects and procedures, maintain lab equipment, apply electrodes and monitor overnight sleep studies. As a sleep technician, the position will be accountable for all overnight sleep research recordings (including consecutive night studies) for clinical trials in human subjects; monitor and track research study files to ensure quality control of data collected. This position is funded for 1 year(s); continuation past 1 year(s) will be based on university need, performance, and/or availability of funding.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree
  • 2+ years of relevant experience
  • PA State Police Criminal Background Check
  • PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form
  • Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

  • Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) strongly preferred
  • Prior training in sleep studies who have suitable work experience

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for all overnight sleep research recordings
  • Monitor and track research studies to ensure quality control
  • Perform PSGs and participate in the collection of Actigraphy, and other research participant data
  • Maintain supplies for sleep laboratory as well as recording equipment to ensure it is in working order at all times for research studies
  • Collect and analyze biological samples (saliva, urine)
  • Update and maintain databases
  • Resolve problem data issues
  • Track data collection forms, and other project materials
  • Perform verification procedures
  • Collaborate with project coordinators, clinical investigators, clinical personnel, and other data management personnel to plan and implement sleep data management tasks for research projects
