The Human Relations Commission Investigator is responsible for receiving and investigating filed or transferred complaints. This role involves resolving complaints through mediation, conciliation, and other resolution methods. The investigator will develop case profiles, interview parties, assess documents, conduct field investigations, and ensure clients are notified of their complaint status within 30 days. The position requires thorough documentation for case review and potential litigation, maintaining confidential files, and interviewing witnesses. The investigator must adhere to federal, state, and local regulations, communicate recommendations to the Commission, and prepare complaints requesting relief under the HRC ordinance. Collaboration with the City Solicitor and participation in educational programs are also key aspects of the role. Travel within the city for investigations and occasional out-of-town training is expected.
