About The Position

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal Human Factors Engineer (T03 level) / Sr Principal Human Factors Engineer (T04 level) to support the Sentinel program in Roy, Utah. This role is part of the Human Factors and Systems Engineering (HFE) team, focusing on compliance for the Sentinel program. The selected engineer will be responsible for tasks related to requirements, verification, and interfaces from an FHE / HSI perspective, including interface definition, requirement decomposition, compliance tracking, verification planning, and execution.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen with an active U.S. Government Secret Clearance, at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs
  • Demonstrated experience utilizing UI/UX design principles
  • Experience using Microsoft (MS) Word, Excel, Power Point, MS Project and Engineering Scheduling tools or applications
  • 2+ years of Systems Engineering experience
  • 2+ years working in requirements management tools (e.g. DOORS)
  • For Principal Systems Engineer (T-03 level): Educational background in psychology, human factors, user experience, graphic design, industrial design, or HCI-related field from an accredited university, and at least 5 years of related experience with a bachelors degree; OR at least 3 Years of relevant experience with a master’s degree; OR 1 Year with a PhD degree
  • For Sr. Principal Systems Engineer (T-04 level): Educational background in psychology, human factors, user experience, graphic design, industrial design, or HCI-related field from an accredited university, and at least 8 years of related experience with a bachelors degree; OR at least 6 Years of relevant experience with a master’s degree; OR 4 Years with a PhD degree

Nice To Haves

  • Past/Active employment with MMIII or Sentinel Weapon Systems
  • 4+ years of Systems engineering experience
  • Experience with any of the following tools and languages: DOORS, Cameo, Teamcenter, CPLM, Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, etc.)
  • Strong understanding and broad application of complex engineering systems (engineering standards, configuration management, material review board, process control, tooling, facilities, software, etc.) for the development of complex systems of systems
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated experience with high value customer presentations, with ability to focus on multiple projects with competing priorities
  • Ability to build software prototypes for usability testing of candidate designs
  • Experience with visual design of computer user interfaces
  • Human Factors, Psychology or similar degree
  • Experience with Human Factors in a defense contracting environment (familiarity with Mil-Std-1472G and ANSI/HFES 100-2007), DoD UI/UX Design Experience
  • Demonstrated experience with prototyping/wireframing tools

Responsibilities

  • Performing tasks dealing with interface definition, requirement decomposition, compliance tracking, verification planning and verification execution for the Sentinel program from an FHE / HSI perspective.
