About The Position

Peraton is looking for a Mechanical / Design Engineer to support the US Navy's hull treatments program onsite in West Bethesda, MD. This role involves performing hands-on engineering to support the US Navy's submarine force. You will use SolidWorks to design and fabricate prototype articles and molds, working alongside other engineers, technicians, and shipyard personnel. The job requires using a range of hand and shop tools for fabrication, installation, and evaluation of test articles. You will also interface with government, contractor, and shipyard personnel on technical and schedule requirements, and potentially lead teams in shipyard installation, training, and testing. Travel to public shipyards and other locations for two-week periods may be required.

Requirements

BS in an Engineering field (GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred) and 5+ years experience or 3+ years with MS/MA
Significant SolidWorks design experience
Demonstrated interest in and ability with hands-on tool use though professional or personal/hobby experience
Active DoD Secret Clearance

Nice To Haves

Experience with polymer processing, molds, mold design
Experience or coursework in acoustics
Demonstrated leadership traits through task supervision or social / athletic group membership (Team Captain, Club Officer, Scouting, etc)

Responsibilities

Perform hands-on engineering in support of the US Navy's submarine force.
Use SolidWorks to design prototype articles and molds.
Fabricate and/or assist in fabrication of prototype articles and molds.
Work side-by-side with other engineers, technicians, and shipyard personnel producing, installing, and testing advanced polymer items.
Use a range of hand and shop tools to fabricate, install, and evaluate test articles.
Interface with government, contractor, and shipyard personnel on technical and schedule requirements.
Lead teams of engineers and technicians in shipyard installation, training, and testing.
