HUD Inspector

Aoka•Houston, TX
•$300 - $450•Onsite

About The Position

Aoka is seeking an experienced Monthly Construction Inspector to independently monitor and document construction progress on HUD-insured multifamily housing projects in Houston, Texas. The role involves one site inspection per month per project, with an approximate commitment of three hours or less per inspection, including travel time. The posting also states that each inspection typically takes less than two hours to complete; total compensation varies with travel time. The inspector conducts a monthly site walkthrough, reviews project records and draw documentation, verifies progress against the approved construction schedule and Schedule of Values, photographs and documents observations, and prepares an objective monthly report for HUD, the owner, and the lender. This is an observation and reporting role; it does not involve directing contractors, supervising construction, or performing code enforcement. The inspector is expected to maintain professional independence while coordinating with project stakeholders. Training is provided for Aoka’s VertexPlans reporting and inspection platform, with additional compensation for training. Aoka is a third-party municipal services provider serving federal, state, and local governments with code compliance, inspections, and consulting. Its proprietary VertexPlans software supports plan reviews, inspections, and reporting. Aoka describes its values as Continuous Improvement, Diversity of Thought, Empathy, and Focus, and its vision as using technology to reshape construction. Compensation is $300–$450 per inspection, paid per inspection.
