About The Position

This role will be responsible for strategic development and planned implementation of risk reduction, injury prevention, security protocols, and safety and environmental compliance initiatives. Success in the role will require collaboration with members of the Leadership Teams to ensure policies and procedures are executed effectively throughout each level of the organization to drive a Safety Culture that strives for excellence in the HSSE and Risk space. Position duties are HSSE in the following functional areas; safety and environmental regulatory compliance, safety training and education, safety inspections, incident analysis, environmental reporting, emergency preparedness, and management of the established Safety and Risk Management Process (SRMP). This position reports to the Director of Safety and Risk and is responsible for directing a broad range of activities that will support one of our key core strategic anchors of Safety.

Requirements

  • BA/BS Degree in Safety, Engineering, Environmental or related major.
  • 3+ years' experience in Safety, Risk Management or related field(s)
  • Demonstrated success in working effectively in multi-functional teams
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written

Responsibilities

  • Develop and facilitate site specific HSSE programs and processes such as: targeted role-specific training, compliance audits, driver safety observations, risk assessments of various exposure points, job hazard assessments to develop solutions for the risk exposure of frontline employees, as well as policy implementation and regulation.
  • Develop and implement Corporate HSSE Policies, Standards and Procedures creation and updates.
  • Lead divisional focus and improvement teams to address identified hazards from research data collected from near miss reports, incidents, as well as discussions from safety committees.
  • Acts as technical advisor to operational personnel and other functional teams to facilitate continual HSSE improvements toward the goal of ongoing regulatory success and proactive risk management.
  • Serve as a Lead HSSE Auditor, conducting cross business unit audits with report preparation, communication, corrective action tracking for audits and incidents, and analysis of trends to develop proactive strategies to address those findings.
  • Provide HSSE coaching and mentoring for the operational personnel toward the goal of regulatory success and risk mitigation through the structure of site specific HSSE teams and continuous support for focused personnel.
  • Lead regulatory planning and change management initiatives to identify HSSE issues and opportunities with the goal to eliminate and control risks at multiple layers of the Christensen, Inc. business structure as it expands into new lines of business.
  • Analyze current and potential company operations to identify potential risks.
  • Develop methods and procedures for HSSE metrics that provide analytical data to indicate regulatory success and mitigate overall risk exposure.
