About The Position

The HSE Technician is responsible for overseeing Health, Safety, and Environmental (HS&E) matters within assigned facilities. This role involves ensuring compliance with HS&E regulations and company policies, conducting training, performing audits, managing safety equipment, and investigating incidents. The technician will work closely with facility coordinators, managers, and supervisors to maintain a safe and compliant working environment.

Requirements

  • Documented HS&E training for new employees before production floor work.
  • Proficiency in conducting and documenting HS&E training.
  • Experience with fire extinguishers, safety eye wash stations, first aid kits, AEDs, and Emergency Spill Kits.
  • Ability to manage and track employee training and certifications.
  • Experience in creating and revising Risk Assessments and JSEA’s.
  • Skills in investigating workplace accidents and incidents.
  • Ability to provide first aid and arrange medical transport.
  • Proficiency in completing and submitting HSE management system paperwork within 24 hours.
  • Experience in performing HS&E facility audits.
  • Ability to manage Corrective Action Requests and Potential Improvement Reports.
  • Experience with hazardous and non-hazardous waste management and disposal coordination.
  • Proficiency in maintaining SDS databases/books.
  • Ability to identify workplace hazards and ensure corrective actions.
  • Knowledge of ensuring equipment and shop areas are in safe working conditions.
  • Understanding of Hunting’s HS&E Manual / Procedures and applicable regulations.
  • Familiarity with contractor training requirements and agreements.
  • Experience assisting with Management of Change processes.
  • Knowledge of SWPPP / SPCC compliance requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with OSHA and ISO 14001 / 45001 requirements.
  • Experience coordinating with HSE Facility Coordinators and Group HSE Managers.
  • Familiarity with Operations Manager review and approval processes for audits.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure new personnel receive documented HS&E training before working on the production floor.
  • Perform and/or assist with required HS&E documented training for all personnel in accordance with Hunting, OSHA, and ISO 14001 / 45001 requirements.
  • Conduct monthly HSE training meetings on approved topics.
  • Inspect and maintain HS&E equipment, including fire extinguishers, safety eye wash stations, first aid kits, AEDs, and Emergency Spill Kits.
  • Manage and track all employees’ HSE training and certifications using the facility-specific training matrix.
  • Assist department Managers/Supervisors in creating and revising Risk Assessments for each Job Description and conducting associated training.
  • Assist department Managers/Supervisors in creating JSEA’s (Job Safety Environmental Analysis) for non-routine activities and processes.
  • Immediately alert HSE Facility Coordinator regarding any incident or potential HS&E issues.
  • Assist Managers/Supervisors with the initial investigation of workplace accidents and incidents, communicate findings, provide first aid, and transport employees to medical facilities if needed.
  • Ensure all required accident/incident paperwork is completed accurately and submitted within 24 hours into the HSE management system.
  • Submit all investigation documentation to the HSE Facility Coordinator or Group HSE Manager for review and approval.
  • Perform monthly HS&E facility audits, including PPE, fire protection, housekeeping, and environmental issues.
  • Track and ensure all non-conforming items from prior audits are addressed and closed.
  • Manage all Corrective Action Requests and Potential Improvement Reports specific to the facility.
  • Perform visual weekly facility assessments of non-hazardous / hazardous waste.
  • Coordinate non-hazardous and hazardous waste disposal/pick-ups in accordance with local, state and federal regulations.
  • Manage the facility waste management program and any applicable trackers for waste.
  • Maintain SDS database/SDS Books for the facility.
  • Identify workplace hazards or unsafe working conditions and ensure appropriate corrective action is taken.
  • Ensure equipment, tooling, and shop areas are in safe working conditions.
  • Assist Operations Manager to ensure the facility’s operations comply with Hunting’s HS&E Manual / Procedures and applicable regulations.
  • Ensure contractors receive required training and complete necessary agreements before working on any Hunting location.
  • Assist Management in completing Management of Change processes that may impact Health, Safety, or Environment.
  • Ensure compliance with SWPPP / SPCC by completing required storm water plan documents, routine inspections, documenting spills, and quarterly visuals.
