About The Position

The HSE Technician ensures that all HPSI safety procedures, rules, and regulations are communicated, understood, and followed. This role involves performing the duties of a Shipyard Competent Person (SCP) on a daily basis, with training provided. The technician will assist the HSE Department with informal inspections of work sites to monitor compliance with safety standards, identify potential hazards, and document findings. Daily housekeeping inspections of vessels under construction are required to ensure work areas are maintained in a safe condition. The role also includes following up on work sites throughout the shift to verify conditions remain compliant with confined space entry permit requirements, assisting production teams in setting up and maintaining proper lighting and ventilation, and collaborating with production supervisors and employees to develop practical solutions to safety and environmental concerns. Other related duties may be required and assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be a motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and complete tasks with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrates strong teamwork skills, particularly in resolving challenges and problem situations
  • Communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Possesses proficiency in the English language
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Must possess the physical abilities necessary to work in the industrial environment
  • Range of motion sufficient to perform lifting, carrying, bending, climbing, working at heights, working in confined spaces, extended walking or standing
  • Medically cleared to wear a respirator / SCBA

  • Experience as an emergency services responder a plus
