About The Position

This position supports the Morris Plant Health, Safety, and Environmental department. Responsibilities include ensuring the readiness and reliability of all plant mobile and fixed emergency response equipment, ensuring the safety of all plant buildings via inspections, and ensuring the inspection and testing of all safety systems. Responsibilities also include limited sampling, data gathering, and conducting analysis of the data for communication to others.

Requirements

  • Class B non-CDL license will be required, and qualification to operate all emergency response mobile equipment
  • Demonstrated safety leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Able to complete job responsibilities with minimum supervision and safely
  • Mechanical skills to make minor repairs on equipment (fixed and mobile)
  • Familiar with computer software programs
  • Must be willing and able to work occasional plant call-outs
  • Must be willing to work with hazardous and/or flammable chemicals (with proper safety precautions, training, and equipment)
  • Must be willing to attend MABAS 15, Grundy County Fire Chiefs, Grundy County LEPC, and IIAMA meetings

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for personal safety, the safety of co-workers, and promoting a safe work environment.
  • Responsible for carrying out all work activities in compliance with federal and state environmental regulations and LyondellBasell and Morris Plant procedures, standards, and specifications.
  • Assists with HSE audits, safety coverage, and environmental duties.
  • Maintains and applies a working knowledge of HSE and other relevant practices, procedures, and programs.
  • Accountable for maintaining, inspecting, and testing plant fire protection and physical loss prevention systems.
  • Takes ownership and ensures the mobile and fixed emergency response equipment, buildings, and safety systems are maintained in proper operating condition and ready for an emergency if one occurs.
  • Exhibits personal leadership in daily activities, task planning, accurate and timely communication to co-workers, and work performance.
  • Performs minor maintenance on equipment and enters SAP work notifications for emergency equipment and buildings in need of maintenance.
  • Utilizes data control systems, records readings, and observes conditions to maintain accurate records for trending, equipment maintenance, and audit purposes.
  • Assists in managing and updating loss prevention impairment software (Shinybox).
  • Provides ideas, advice, and consults with supervisor and others within the HSE organization, plant management, engineering, and maintenance to continually enhance HSE/Emergency Response capabilities and performance.
  • Leads and participates in ERT training and other skills development, works with shift Fire Captains to develop training and ensure specific training exercises are covered annually.
  • Leads emergency service contractors to complete the required work and ensures proper records are kept.
  • Supports facility work permit process, including writing permits for work being performed in areas of HSE responsibility.
  • Assists in developing and implementing systems and procedures to ensure HSE compliance.
  • Maintains qualifications for Fire, Hazmat, and Rescue ERT member, and responds to all emergencies as a responder or in a support role as directed by Incident Command.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required to meet all aspects of loss prevention, compliance, and readiness.
  • Active participant with ERT P2E.
