About The Position

The HSE Specialist will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring HSE policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations. This role involves conducting regular site visits, leading incident investigations, delivering training, performing risk assessments, and participating in audits. The specialist will also maintain accurate records, collaborate with various teams to promote a positive HSE culture, and serve as a subject matter expert. Key expectations include building strong relationships, fostering buy-in for HSE initiatives, communicating effectively, staying current with regulations, modeling safe behavior, and responding promptly to concerns.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of HSE experience, ideally in a manufacturing or multi-site environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Ability to interpret and apply regulatory requirements to real-world operational challenges.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable delivering safety presentations and training sessions to various audiences.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% to company facilities as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health & safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7-8 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Professional certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist), or CHMM (Certified Hazardous Materials Manager) are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor HSE policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Conduct regular site visits to company facilities to assess HSE performance, provide guidance, and support continuous improvement.
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action implementation.
  • Deliver HSE training and educational sessions to employees and contractors.
  • Perform risk assessments and recommend effective risk mitigation strategies.
  • Participate in audits, inspections, and internal/external compliance reviews.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to HSE activities, incidents, and corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with site managers and cross-functional teams to implement safety initiatives and promote a positive HSE culture.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and resource for HSE-related topics, providing practical advice and solutions.
  • Track and report on HSE performance metrics and communicate results to leadership.
