About The Position

Gulf Coast Industrial (GCI) is seeking an HSE Manager to oversee safety, health, and environmental programs in industrial settings. This role involves ensuring compliance with OSHA and other regulations, developing and implementing site-specific safety plans, and fostering a culture of safety. The HSE Manager will work closely with Project Managers and Supervisors to uphold safety policies, conduct audits, provide training, and manage incident reporting and investigations. This position is crucial for achieving GCI's goal of Zero Accidents and Injuries and maintaining positive client relationships.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in safety in an industrial setting
  • OSHA 30 Certification (Construction/General Industry)
  • CPR/First Aid Certified
  • Organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direction, oversight, and management of safety, health, and environmental site-specific safety programs in compliance with OSHA, owners, clients, and all other federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Work closely with and assist Project Managers and Supervisors to ensure all safety policies and procedures are always established and adhered to.
  • Facilitate clear and timely communication within the project team, ensuring the accuracy and prompt delivery of reports to corporate stakeholders.
  • Foster positive customer relationships by consistently meeting client expectations.
  • Review, advise, and recommend additions or changes to the Site-Specific Safety Program in accordance with OSHA regulations, Company policies and client requirements.
  • Act as safety liaison between the Client, Contractors, Government Agencies, and Gulf Coast Industrial.
  • Develop Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA) as needed for the project and assist any staff with meeting this requirement.
  • Advise Corporate Safety Director of any needed changes to the Site-Specific Safety Plan (SSSP).
  • Train Project Managers and Field Supervisors on their role in implementation and execution of the Corporate Safety Program and the Site-Specific Safety Plan.
  • Monitor the implementation of the Site-Specific Safety Plan, all safety protocols and policies, risk management strategies, and on-site project requirements.
  • Conduct Job Site Safety Audits to identify weaknesses and risks.
  • Train Field Supervisors and Operators on OSHA/MSHA regulations.
  • Assist Project Managers and Site Supervisors with weekly safety briefs and daily Job Safety Analysis (JSAs).
  • Assist in interpretations and enforcement of any safety related manuals, hazards, or violations.
  • Administer site safety orientation to new hires and subcontractors.
  • Order safety supplies as needed or requested and approved by job site personnel, PMs, Superintendent and/or Safety Director.
  • Identify and coordinate environmental issues on project sites.
  • Transport personnel to medical facilities for work-related injuries.
  • Maintain appropriate labor law posters for job sites.
  • Conduct/Verify weekly observations and equipment inspections.
  • Notification of all workplace incidents in the first 30 minutes by phone to the AIS HSE Director; including initial details of the incident.
  • Investigate and file first report of any work-related first aid, injury, illness, near-misses, and damage to vehicles, equipment, or property and forward to the Corporate Safety office within 24 hours of occurrence.
  • Complete timely and accurate project safety reports in accordance with corporate policies.
  • Create, monitor, and maintain workers' safety and training files and forward to the Corporate Safety office in a timely manner.
  • Ensure effective communications within the Gulf Coast Industrial team, clients, etc. on all safety matters.
  • Facilitate resolution of any safety related problems and conflicts both within the Gulf Coast Industrial team and with customers.
  • Communicate with customer on safety issues to ensure all customer goals and expectations are met.
