About The Position

The HSE Lead / Advisor plays a critical role in supporting safe, compliant, and efficient operations across ClearWater's construction, maintenance, turnaround, and industrial projects. This position is responsible for promoting a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations, and providing guidance and support to employees, supervisors, subcontractors, and clients. Working collaboratively with operations, project teams, leadership, clients, and contractors, the HSE Lead / Advisor provides technical expertise in occupational health and safety, hazard identification, incident prevention, inspections, investigations, training, and continuous improvement initiatives. Depending on experience and project requirements, the successful candidate may take a leadership role in managing HSE programs, audits, and site-wide safety performance. Requirements

  • Professional certification as CSO, NCSO, CHSC, or Occupational Health & Safety Certification required.
  • Experience with HSE Management Systems and audit programs, including COR requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety legislation and industry best practices.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and HSE reporting systems.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license with the ability to travel to various project and site locations.
  • Experience in industrial construction, maintenance, energy, oil and gas, or related industrial environments.

Nice To Haves

  • CRSP designation is considered an asset.
  • Certification as an Internal Auditor through ACSA or equivalent is considered an asset.
  • Formal training or experience in incident investigation and root cause analysis is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support and maintain effective health, safety, and environmental programs by promoting a strong safety culture among employees and subcontractors.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable Occupational Health & Safety legislation, regulatory requirements, client expectations, and company standards.
  • Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of HSE programs, procedures, and safety management plans.
  • Advise operations and leadership teams on industry best practices and applicable legislation.
  • Support client, regulatory, and internal HSE requirements across project and operational environments.
  • Conduct workplace inspections, audits, hazard assessments, and field observations.
  • Monitor corrective actions and support timely resolution of identified deficiencies.
  • Assist with contractor and subcontractor qualification, evaluation, and risk mitigation processes.
  • Support COR, internal, and external audit activities and corrective action tracking.
  • Implement systems to identify, assess, and mitigate workplace hazards and unsafe practices.
  • Assist with incident reporting, investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action development.
  • Track trends and support recommendations to improve operational safety performance.
  • Maintain accurate safety records and documentation.
  • Support emergency response planning and preparedness activities.
  • Communicate lessons learned and safety alerts across operational teams.
  • Conduct and support employee and contractor orientations.
  • Deliver or coordinate HSE training programs for employees, supervisors, and management teams.
  • Participate in pre-job meetings, client meetings, and project kickoffs.
  • Support development and communication of monthly safety messages, safety alerts, and safety initiatives.
  • Provide guidance on safe work practices, hazard assessments, inspections, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Maintain safety statistics, reports, action logs, and compliance records.
  • Prepare HSE performance summaries for operational and client reporting requirements.
  • Support the collection and analysis of HSE performance metrics and trends.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, audits, and program reviews.
  • Contribute to the advancement of ClearWater's safety culture and operational excellence objectives.
