About The Position

Acuren is seeking a motivated and forward-thinking Health and Safety Coordinator to support our team at our client site, Syncrude, in Fort McMurray. This is an excellent opportunity for a safety-focused professional with strong field experience who is looking to take the next step in a dynamic, fast-paced industrial environment. The role involves Monday - Friday, 40+ hours/week, and requires the candidate to be local to Fort McMurray. Requirements

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Occupational Health & Safety
  • NCSO and/or CRSP designation (or actively working toward certification)
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in an industrial or construction environment
  • Strong working knowledge of applicable standards, regulations, legislation, and case law
  • Understanding of ISO compliance programs and Safety/Quality Management Systems
  • Experience conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions
  • Confident in coaching and influencing employees across multiple sites
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to build strong working relationships
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to enforcing compliance with provincial OHS legislation and corporate Safety and Quality Management Systems

Nice To Haves

  • NDT and/or Rope Access experience considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of safety and quality control measures
  • Conduct regular field safety and quality audits
  • Provide on-site safety and quality oversight during shutdowns and site projects
  • Lead and document incident investigations, ensuring corrective actions are implemented
  • Ensure compliance with Canadian and provincial regulations, as well as applicable standards
  • Develop and support programs to address safety or quality performance gaps
  • Contribute to ongoing improvements of the Safety and/or Quality Management System
  • Assist the Manager with priority health, safety, and quality initiatives
  • Deliver regional safety and quality training and targeted risk awareness sessions
  • Maintain accurate reporting, training records, and near-miss documentation
  • Provide reliable data to support monthly safety and quality metrics
