About The Position

The HSE Advisor will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of and adherence to Company HSE requirements and operational expectations. Responsibilities include managing HSE-related activities for the designated operational area(s) and ensuring work activities are conducted in accordance with Company policies, standards and processes, and relevant regulatory requirements. The HSE Advisor works closely with and assists in building strong relationships with all employees and stakeholders to support designated operational areas.

Requirements

  • Experience within the drilling industry and a commitment to achieving all HSE and Company objectives
  • Competent in emergency response support of coworkers as needed, ensure compliance with safety procedures, and other additional tasks as assigned
  • Proficient in understanding and communicating regulations, risk management, and risk assessment skills
  • Technical proficiency in HSE auditing, incident investigation, and documentation techniques; such as case management and required recordkeeping
  • Proficient written communication within various computer applications and programs, including MS Office
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, including while speaking in front of large groups
  • Working at heights, including but not limited to climbing a straight ladder or stairs approximately 142 feet from the rig floor to perform inspections, investigations, and/or training with required PPE while maintaining 100% tied off
  • Spatial orientation and awareness are required to be able to safely move around the work environment with many moving objects
  • Works in a heavy industrial environment which includes working around constantly moving overhead machinery and being near loud equipment with proper PPE
  • Requires work in remote locations far from emergency services
  • Adherence to the Company’s Drug and Alcohol Policy, including performing on site employee collections and Fit for Duty evaluations
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • One year experience in an HSE role or related experience (rig-based operations)
  • Must have valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to meet requirements of Company’s Vehicle Use Agreement and Driving Policy

Nice To Haves

  • Four-year college degree
  • Two years’ experience in the oil and gas industry, with a strong understanding of related regulatory frameworks and HSE requirements

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with HSE Manager and HSE team to ensure a consistent, yet effective, approach to HSE responsibilities while adhering to current best practices
  • Promote a risk-based approach (e.g., field-based hazard identification and risk assessments) to HSE management utilizing Company policies, standards and processes for all operational activities
  • Plan and participate in HSE audits/reviews of drilling operations in assigned areas to ensure implementation and compliance with HSE requirements
  • Collaborate in job-planning activities, including Permission to Work (PTW), Job Risk Assessment (JRA), hazard recognition, and all company related safety initiatives
  • Provide HSE policy guidance and interpretation, while assisting with driving improvements to HSE policies, practices and processes
  • Lead initiatives to proactively promote the Company’s commitment to employee engagement in HSE activities
  • Ensure compliance with all HSE related training to include internal and external training as needed for the designated area of responsibility
  • Participate in operational meetings as requested
  • Ensure compliance with reporting system for collecting, storing, analyzing, tracking and reporting HSE performance data (e.g. incident report findings, audit actions, and related HSE metrics)
  • Participate in risk management and HSE activities including risk assessments, audits, HSE meetings and onsite work activities
  • Participate in case management, including interviews and perform frequent follow-ups to ensure ongoing support and compliance with third party medical recommendations
