About The Position

The HSE Advisor is responsible for supporting the HSE Manager in the implementation and monitoring of all safety programs and initiatives on active mining projects. This position plays a key role in the day-to-day safety of personnel and operations, with an emphasis on safety preparedness, hazard identification, incident prevention, mine rescue, and worker training.

Requirements

  • Experience in supporting HSE Manager in implementation and monitoring of safety programs.
  • Experience in safety preparedness, hazard identification, incident prevention, mine rescue, and worker training.
  • Experience in providing field safety support in underground and surface mining environments.
  • Experience in conducting safety observations, inspections, and audits.
  • Experience in supporting supervisors and field crews in risk identification and mitigation.
  • Experience in delivering and tracking site-specific safety orientations.
  • Experience in developing and facilitating toolbox talks, safety meetings, and worker training.
  • Experience in monitoring competency records and assisting with training documentation.
  • Experience in coordinating and executing mine rescue planning and drills.
  • Experience in maintaining mine rescue equipment and communication systems.
  • Experience in participating in mine rescue activities and emergency response.
  • Experience in supporting incident investigations and root cause analysis (ICAM or equivalent).
  • Experience in recording, tracking, and following up on hazard reports and corrective actions.
  • Experience in maintaining safety documentation (inspections, permits, training records).
  • Experience in preparing safety reports.
  • Experience with digital safety system inputs (e.g., SiteDocs, Intelex).
  • Experience in supporting compliance with occupational health & safety regulations and underground mining legislation.
  • Experience in liaising with regulatory inspectors.

Responsibilities

  • Provide visible, on-the-ground safety presence in underground and surface areas of the site.
  • Conduct safety observations, inspections, and audits to ensure compliance with site safety protocols and regulatory standards.
  • Support supervisors and field crews in identifying and mitigating risks during daily operations.
  • Deliver and track site-specific safety orientations for all personnel and contractors.
  • Support the development and facilitation of toolbox talks, safety meetings, and ongoing worker training sessions.
  • Monitor competency records and assist with training documentation and verification.
  • Assist with the coordination and execution of underground mine rescue planning and drills.
  • Maintain readiness of mine rescue equipment and underground communication systems.
  • Participate in mine rescue activities, including as an active member of the sites emergency response team.
  • Support incident investigations and participate in root cause analysis using ICAM or equivalent methods.
  • Record, track, and follow up on hazard reports and corrective actions to ensure timely closeout.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date safety documentation including inspections, permits, and training records.
  • Support preparation of daily and weekly safety reports for internal and client distribution.
  • Assist with digital safety system inputs (e.g., SiteDocs, Intelex, or company-specific platforms).
  • Support site compliance with occupational health & safety regulations and underground mining legislation.
  • Liaise with regulatory inspectors when required, under direction of the HSE Manager.
