About The Position

Significant, high-profile Defence program Permanent, full-time position, open to national locations Defence sector environment requiring Australian Citizenship and the ability to obtain a security clearance. With your significant experience, you will play a pivotal role in supporting and enhancing the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) function within one of our critical Defence programs. You will assist and work proactively in HSE planning, implementation, assurance and advisory activities, ensuring alignment with Company, Customer, and Legislative requirements. One of your key focuses will be on safety risk management in construction environments and managing our sub-contractors, as well as environmental management and permitting requirements to effectively control and mitigate program risks. This position is integral to the success of our programs, where Babcock leads the management and maintenance of the Defence’s Anzac Fleet. You will assist in the development, implementation, and assurance of the Henderson Health, Safety, and Environment Management Plan (HSEMP) and provide expert advice and support on safety risk management in construction, as well as environmental management and permitting processes for construction activities.

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in HSE or a related discipline
  • Strong experience in safety risk management within construction environments
  • Environmental management expertise, including permitting and compliance
  • Knowledge of relevant environmental legislation
  • Experience working with subcontractors and multiple stakeholders
  • Strong influencing and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Experience with auditing, compliance monitoring and reporting
  • Familiarity with ISO 45001:2018 (Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems)
  • Familiarity with ISO 14001:2016 (Environmental Management Systems)
  • Australian Citizenship and eligibility for a Defence security clearance

Responsibilities

  • Assist and work proactively in HSE planning, implementation, assurance and advisory activities, ensuring alignment with Company, Customer, and Legislative requirements.
  • Focus on safety risk management in construction environments and managing sub-contractors.
  • Manage environmental management and permitting requirements to effectively control and mitigate program risks.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and assurance of the Henderson Health, Safety, and Environment Management Plan (HSEMP).
  • Provide expert advice and support on safety risk management in construction.
  • Provide expert advice and support on environmental management and permitting processes for construction activities.
