About The Position

Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton School District is seeking a caring, outgoing, and transformative High School Social Studies Long-Term Substitute Teacher. The position will start on September 1 and go through October 20 (tentatively). The ideal candidate will have experience teaching grades 7-12, with a background working with at-risk students and experiential learning.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Education
  • PELSB License: 7-12 Social Studies
  • Thorough knowledge of standard office equipment and software
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, students, parents, and elected officials
  • Ability to effectively use and implement technology in the classroom
  • Ability to create an environment of respect and trust
  • Ability to differentiate curriculum to a wide range of learners
  • Proven skill in forming, building, and maintaining positive relationships
  • Evidence of successful experiences with students at a range of ages
  • Commitment to and evidence of continual improvement

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching grades 7-12
  • Background working with at-risk students
  • Background working with experiential learning
  • Knowledge of Infinite Campus and Educlimber preferred

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills
  • Collaborate and work with fellow teachers to provide the best growth and opportunities for students
  • Create a flexible, safe learning environment that is conducive to individualized and small group learning
  • Provide feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.
  • Document teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes
  • Understand and utilize district technologies to support learning for students
  • Other responsibilities assigned by the supervisor
