About The Position

This is a long-term substitute position for a Social Studies Teacher at the High School level. The role requires a teacher who can prepare and implement engaging curricula, differentiate instruction, and foster a learning environment of high expectations. The teacher will utilize various technologies, employ diverse assessment methods, and support students' holistic growth. Key responsibilities include establishing clear behavioral standards, maintaining open communication with students, colleagues, and parents, and upholding student confidentiality. The position also involves demonstrating subject matter expertise and modeling school community values.

Requirements

RI Teacher Certification - Secondary Social Studies Grades 6-12

Responsibilities

Prepares and implements well-organized curricula in which students are engaged in relevant, thoughtful, challenging work.
Differentiates instruction based on the needs of each student.
Establishes a learning environment of high expectations that supports students.
Employs techniques that encourage critical thinking and problem solving.
Uses a variety of current technologies to enhance instruction and to advance students’ technological literacy.
Uses various methods of assessment; uses data to plan instruction.
Supports students’ social, emotional and academic growth.
Defines, communicates, and upholds acceptable standards of student behavior and develops open communication, mutual respect, and rapport with students.
Communicates effectively with colleagues, parents and other school community members.
Keeps accurate records and completes all tasks in a timely manner.
Demonstrates appropriate depth of knowledge in subject matter.
Maintains student confidentiality.
Models the behavior and expectations of our school community.
Performs other duties and tasks as assigned by the building principal.
