About The Position

The HS Education Coach is responsible for observing and accessing the classroom activities of the Head Start Program and providing on-the-job guidance and training to the teaching staff and volunteers, in order to improve the qualifications and training of classroom staff high-quality education services, and to promote career development in Head Start Programs. Through mentoring and coaching, assist classroom teams in understanding the importance of developmentally appropriate practices and individualized curriculum planning and its impact on child outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelors in Education or Early Childhood.
  • 2-3 years of experience in teaching in an Infant/Toddler setting.
  • Proficient computer skills to include Microsoft Office, database systems, email and internet.

Responsibilities

  • Identify strengths, areas of needed support and which staff would benefit most from intensive coaching.
  • Provide opportunities for intensive coaching including opportunities to be observed and with the use of technology receive feedback and modeling of effective teacher practice.
  • For staff not in need of intensive coaching, support the development of opportunities to access other research-based professional development.
  • Coordinate and lead large and small groups, creating a cooperative and productive environment in which to resolve problems or develop and implement plans.
  • Build constructive working relationships characterized by a high level of acceptance, cooperation, and mutual regard.
  • Resourcefulness in Problem Solving: Use intelligence and diverse learning modalities, common sense, and perseverance to solve difficult or complicated challenges, as well as providing positive and specific feedback.
  • Conduct and document follow-up contacts for all services provided, identify, resolve and communicate obstacles and challenges to supervisors promptly.
  • Actively support the development, promotion, organization and service delivery of the agency's programs.
  • Actively participate in special community events and agency-wide initiatives including development events and activities.
  • Effectively handle stressful or adverse situations associated with classroom management, making good decisions, working calmly and accurately, and helping to calm others.
  • Respond to difficult, a stressful or sensitive interpersonal situation in ways that reduce or minimize potential conflict and maintains good working relationships among staff.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned in support of agency and program needs and operations.
