About The Position

The American Indian College Fund is dedicated to transforming lives and communities by increasing access to higher education for Native students. Empowering more than 4,000 Native students annually, the organization supports not only scholarships but also funding for tribally controlled colleges and cultural preservation activities. The College Fund is looking for an HRBP, ER to support a fair, consistent, and values-aligned employee experience through employee relations, workplace investigations, onboarding, org-wide people trainings, employee engagement, and manager and employee guidance. The Team : Our People Operations team is made up of Learning & Development, HR, and Building & Facilities. We collaborate to create a workplace where our staff is supported in their experience, work, and development.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of human resources, employee relations, learning and development, community development, or related experience supporting investigations, onboarding, training, engagement, performance documentation, or conduct-related concerns.
  • Experience conducting workplace investigations and resolving employee complaints or concerns with sound judgment and appropriate escalation.
  • Experience facilitating onboarding, manager trainings, organization-wide people trainings, or employee engagement activities.
  • Working knowledge of employee relations practices, investigation processes, policy interpretation, facilitation practices, and documentation standards.
  • Ability to handle sensitive conversations, synthesize employee feedback, assess risk, and maintain neutrality, confidentiality, and professionalism.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including clear case notes, investigation summaries, engagement summaries, training materials, performance documentation, and follow-up materials.
  • Sound judgment and ability to determine when escalation is appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Own the post-hire onboarding experience, including welcome touchpoints, orientation content, first-day experience, 30-day check-ins, and connection to people resources.
  • Develop and facilitate org-wide people trainings on respectful workplace practices, communication, feedback, conflict navigation, manager expectations, onboarding, and inclusive team practices.
  • Create and maintain practical training materials, onboarding resources, and follow-up tools that support consistent interpersonal practices across the organization.
  • Serve as the first touch point for employee relations concerns, workplace conflicts, conduct issues, and policy-related interpersonal matters.
  • Manage workplace investigations, including intake, interviews, fact gathering, documentation, findings, and recommended next steps including but not limited to resolving or escalating complaints appropriately.
  • Support managers with performance and conduct concerns through clear documentation, feedback summaries, corrective action materials, and follow-up plans.
  • Support employee leave and accommodation matters through employee-facing conversations, manager guidance, interactive process documentation, and appropriate escalation.
  • Support employee engagement efforts by gathering and synthesizing feedback.
  • Represent People Operations in employee-facing committees or working groups related to belonging, inclusion, engagement, and workplace culture.
  • Maintain confidential people relations files, investigation notes, onboarding materials, training records, engagement summaries, case trackers, and outcome documentation.
