About The Position

Responsible for providing casino wide training to support and maximize the efficiency of the Shooting Star Casino team members. In all interactions, the position is responsible for providing a STAR EXPERIENCE to guests and fellow team members a first priority. Shooting Star Casino team members will always deliver excellent guest service to our guests and fellow co-workers. Requirements

  • A two-year college or technical school degree in Human Resources or Business Administration is preferred; other related fields may be considered with appropriate work experience; or minimum of two years of experience and or training in the Human Resources, Training, Curriculum Development or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must meet licensing requirements as prescribed by the Tribal-State Compact for gaming.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and insurance.
  • Knowledge of and ability to work with audio/visual equipment.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts for basic reports.
  • Ability to understand and explain ideas and concepts.
  • Ability to recognize learning styles.
  • Ability to speak in front of large groups.
  • Knowledge of and skill in using a personal computer and related software including Word, Excel, Outlook and Human Resources and other various software.
  • Skill of developing and maintaining positive relationships with external and internal customers.
  • Skill of receiving a message, understanding the intended message and giving feedback to ensure guest expectations are met.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work.
  • The ability to research and analyze various different types of data.
  • Ability to effectively communicate through various forms such as e-mail, written documents and telephone.

Responsibilities

  • Formulate training programs that meet the needs of departments and team members to assure quality performance standards of the Shooting Star Casino, Hotel, and Event Center.
  • Identify training needs of various departments.
  • Compile, analyze and review data and information to meet the department needs.
  • Recommend and/or develop teaching aides such as training manuals, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, and reference materials.
  • Formulate training plans and goals.
  • Formulate teaching outline and determine instructional methods such as individual training, group instruction, lectures, demonstrations, conferences, meetings and workshops.
  • Confer with managers, supervisors and team members to gain knowledge of work situations requiring training and to better understand changes in policies, procedures, regulations, business activities, and technologies.
  • Evaluate training programs; recommend changes to programs based on evaluation and feedback.
  • Assist with casino wide and departmental Strategic Planning.
  • Work with other White Earth entities on training needs and provide training services.
  • Research training materials and trends.
  • Stay current with technological trends and utilize new equipment to incorporate audio visual aids in developing training videos.
  • Attend external training to maintain and enhance trainer knowledge.
  • Order materials and compile purchase requisitions.
  • Participate in community involvement efforts and initiatives.
  • Assist other Human Resource areas as needed.
  • Keep training course attendance.
  • Maintain team member development opportunity ladders.
  • Issue certificates.
  • Maintain file documentation.
  • Enter and report new and external courses.
  • Compile data for reports.
  • Report on progress of team members as needed to management and supervisors.
  • Report to and communicate with external agencies to stay compliant with mandatory training standards.
  • Prepare information to ensure appropriate delivery.
  • Present information in a manner that meets the needs of all.
  • Team member follow-ups.
  • Answer questions and provide guidance.
  • Test team members to measure progress and evaluate effectiveness of training.
  • Monitor training methods and make on the spot corrections.
  • Conduct training sessions covering specific areas such as on-the-job training, refresher training, etc.
  • Assist in Policy and Procedure edits; conduct roll-out training sessions for any changes or new material.
  • Provide accurate trainings to include casino software.
  • Provide guidance for team members.
  • Provide service to internal and external customers.
  • Listen to and answer a variety of questions or refer to appropriate staff.
  • Initiates contracts for rooms and equipment for both internal and external training.
  • Schedule training for needs of casino and departments.
  • Coordinate with Hiring for Orientation requirements.
  • Assist with Hiring needs, events and In-Processing.
  • Confer and coordinate with outside vendors.
  • Other duties as assigned.
