About The Position

The Department of Family and Community Medicine (FCM) is seeking an HR Tech to manage, coordinate, and administer the day-to-day credentialing and privileging activities for physicians, associate clinical staff, and network practitioners. This role will also serve as the Department liaison with the Health Sciences Clinical Affairs Provider Credentialing Office and provide data. The ideal candidate will be dynamic, highly organized, interested in learning new systems and processes, and able to work independently as well as part of a team. Excellent customer service skills are essential for high-volume email and telephone communications. The ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise good judgment, and manage a heavy workload with competing priorities and deadlines is crucial. Strong organizational and time management skills are required to track and follow up on all credentialing and privileging packets, ensuring the quality and accuracy of data. The role involves composing memos and emails, performing business math calculations, and creating word documents and excel worksheets for data organization, analysis, and presentation. Maintaining electronic and paper credentialing and privileging file systems is also essential.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • At least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment.
  • Ability to independently handle a workload that may be heavy at times and with competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Highly organized with excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to track and follow up on all credentialing and privileging packets for the Department to include maintaining the quality and accuracy of all medical staff and associate clinical staff credentialing and privileging data.
  • Ability to compose memos and emails.
  • Ability to perform business math calculations.
  • Ability to create and maintain credentialing and privileging file system, both electronic and paper.
  • Skill in use of personal computers and related software application (i.e. Word, Excel, Smartsheet, ADOBE and Tableau).
  • Ability to interpret and analyze informational needs and provide technical advice and guidance in area of specialty.
  • Database management skills.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems.
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.

  • Review and screen initial medical staff credentialing applications for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with federal, state, local and University regulations, guidelines, policies, and standards.
  • Interpret federal, state, local, and government/insurance agency regulations and guidelines, as well as University Medical Staff Affairs policies for client faculty and staff.
  • Advise providers, management, and administrators on compliance issues as appropriate.
  • Interface with providers and students, client departments, internal agencies, and all related external health care agencies on day-to-day credentialing and privileging issues as they arise.
  • Maintain files to ensure that they are up to date, complete, and accurate; review all file documentation for compliance with quality standards, accreditation requirements, and all other relevant policies; prepare and provide information to internal agencies as appropriate.
  • Provide a range of administrative and/or office managerial support to the Sr. Med Practice Specialist and unit, as appropriate to the position.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.
