Requirements

  • Strong leadership, partnering and problem-solving experience, with the ability to work across People, Technology, Data and Governance teams to turn operational needs into practical, controlled and sustainable outcomes.
  • Proven ability to lead, develop and motivate specialist teams.
  • Strong partnership and influencing skills across People, Technology, Data, Insight, Governance and supplier teams.
  • Able to understand complex issues, clarify ownership, routes to decision and practical next steps.
  • Able to translate operational needs into clear requirements, priorities and evidence-based recommendations.
  • Clear communicator, able to explain systems, data, MI and control issues in plain English.
  • Highly numerate and analytical, with strong attention to data accuracy and the ability to build data literacy and translate complex information into clear, practical insight for operational and senior audiences.
  • Curious about emerging technology, automation and AI, with a practical understanding of governance, controls and appropriate use.
  • Ability to balance People Operations requirements with wider People function and business priorities.
  • Strong practical knowledge of SAP HR and connected People systems.
  • Good understanding of HR systems, payroll, organisation data, integrations and downstream impacts.
  • Experience shaping system requirements, controls, testing approaches, operational readiness and system and data acceptance.
  • Practical understanding of systems governance, access controls, data quality, stewardship and relevant data standards and governance requirements.
  • Experience working with BI, MI, analytics or data teams to shape reporting requirements, improve data readiness and support operational insight.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop and coach the People Systems & Data team, building capability and resilience across systems, data, MI and insight.
  • Develop and maintain the People Systems & Data plan and consolidated People systems, data, MI, automation and AI demand view, aligned to wider People and business priorities.
  • Work across the People function and act as the key People Operations partner into B&Q and Kingfisher Technology, shaping demand, priorities and requirements so systems, interfaces, data flows and MI are joined up, scalable, controlled and future-fit, with clear ownership and downstream impacts understood.
  • Translate business, legislative and operational needs into clear systems, data, MI and insight requirements, priorities and controls.
  • Own system and data acceptance for People solutions, ensuring requirements, controls, testing, readiness and support arrangements are clear before changes move into live use.
  • Ensure People systems and data services remain effective and controlled in live operation, with clear ownership, support arrangements, controls and escalation routes.
  • Lead the People data governance and stewardship model, including organisation and master data, establishing clear ownership, definitions, quality standards and controls and ensuring downstream impacts are understood.
  • Work with People Services and Payroll to improve data quality at source and address recurring systems and data issues.
  • Partner with B&Q BI, Group BI, B&Q Data Protection and Group Data Governance to shape People data, MI, reporting and insight priorities, while those teams retain ownership of reporting, analytics, data products, protection standards and governance frameworks.
  • Build data and insight capability across People, improving data literacy, understanding of key measures and confidence in using MI and insight to inform decisions, manage performance and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Partner with the People Operations Delivery & Improvement Partner and wider People teams to identify where systems, data, workflow, automation and AI can enable improvement.
  • Provide systems, data and technology expertise throughout problem definition, process redesign and delivery.
  • Maintain visibility of material systems, data and control risks and escalate significant issues to the People Operations Lead.
