About The Position

The HR Support Specialist - Staffing and Classification provides comprehensive classification, staffing, recruitment, and placement support to NSWCPD's Staffing and Classification Branch in accordance with applicable federal laws, rules, and regulations.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience providing Human Resources services specifically in Staffing and Classification
  • Working knowledge of Government regulations, policies, and practices under Title 5, United States Code, and other applicable HR statutes and authorities.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs.
  • Ability to research, analyze, and document HR methodology and findings.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with employees, supervisors, and managers.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and Personally Identifiable Information (PII) in accordance with applicable privacy requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with recruitment of new personnel, placement strategies, job analysis, and workforce planning.
  • Assist in the development of position descriptions, appropriate factor levels and grade levels for specific job titles, and the development of compensation plans.
  • Provide comprehensive classification, staffing, recruitment, and placement services in accordance with all federal laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Plan, coordinate, and develop facts and/or provide resolution support to various problems in one or more HR specialties; use government computers with office applications to prepare documents containing tables or graphs.
  • Support special projects and provide knowledge in establishing efficient, cost-effective organizational structures that support desired grade levels and facilitate career development.
  • Provide recommendations to management on organizational design with emphasis on career development principles and practices.
  • Perform data entry of Requests for Personnel Actions (RPAs) in the Defense Civilian Personnel Data System (DCPDS); route RPAs into the appropriate Specialist's inbox and update the NSWCPD RPA Tracking System (CRTS) database.
