About The Position

The main purpose of this full-time position, which functions under close supervision, will be to learn to interpret, provide, advise, and apply professional Human Resource services, policies and procedures regarding employment, recruitment, test development, Workday/HRIS management, classifications, compensation, and leave programs for the Potomac Center and Secure Evaluation and Therapeutic Treatment (SETT). This position will also learn to independently process all personnel transactions, health benefits, retirements, separations, and, create and maintain employees’ official personnel files and online files via Workday. Additionally, this position functions as a health benefits and a retirement coordinator. This position will maintain confidentiality in human resources-related activities.

Requirements

  • Four years of professional HR management work experience in the areas of recruitment, classification, salary administration, employee relations, test development and validation or as a generalist.
  • Certification in State Personnel Management System policies and procedures and in the functionality of the Statewide Personnel System from the Office of Personnel Services and Benefits, Maryland Department of Budget and Management within six months from the time of appointment to the position. Employees are also required to obtain recertification every six months thereafter.
  • Possession of a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland (if assigned duties requiring operation of a motor vehicle).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with HRIS system such as Workday and JobAps
  • Experience with PFML, FMLA, Worker's Compensation and HR regulations related to leave requests
  • Customer service experience (i.e. problem-solving, team work, shifting priorities and communication skills)
