About The Position

This position serves as the primary point of contact for the effective operation of satellite human resources interfaces with United States Air Force (USAF) servers and related human resources computers, including both hardware and software. The role involves providing training on the utilization of different components of the Military Personnel Data System (MILPDS) and offering technical guidance on the overall scope of MILPDS and interfacing systems to identify and solve personnel system-related problems that could impact readiness. The position also acts as the system manager for case management tracking systems, responding to inquiries from various levels of personnel system managers and the Defense Finance and Accounting System (DFAS). The incumbent will plan, direct, and control all aspects of various Personnel Data Systems (PDS), including MILPDS, Virtual Personnel Center (vPC), Personnel Records Display Application (PRDA), Enterprise Output Manager (EOM), and related system interfaces. Responsibilities include providing technical support for system security, user account management, user access, and connectivity, as well as monitoring application software releases. Management advisory services will be provided to users on the technical aspects of PDS applications and their capabilities. The role involves analyzing agency procedures affecting local automated and non-automated FSS processes, recommending modifications, and preparing/implementing local procedures for system operations. Developing and analyzing management products to assess the adequacy and accuracy of the PDS database, and developing/implementing quality procedures for correcting Transaction Registers (TR) and other data assessment programs are also key duties. The position involves managing TR analysis and serving as a system account manager. Technical assistance and training will be provided to current users of applicable systems, promoting the use of PDS through instructions on automated applications and systems such as MILPDS, Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE), Command Human Resources Information Systems (CHRIS), Virtual Military personnel Flight Suite of Applications (vMPF), PRDA, Retrieval Access Website (RAW), and myFSS. Support includes approving requests for higher-level access and directing members to appropriate command levels when access requests cannot be approved. Account maintenance actions, resolving functional and procedural issues, and elevating issues when necessary are also part of the role. Interpretations and data applications for PDS data will be provided to FSS Personnel, Command Support Staff, and other agencies. Formal and informal training will be prepared and provided to PDS users, covering database and file accessing techniques, data security, search strategies, processing and space utilization efficiencies, backup and program recovery techniques, and testing techniques. Customer assistance will be provided to current and potential PDS users within the FSS and serviced organizations. Military personnel advisory services will be offered to commanders and staff on all personnel systems programs, as well as staff advisory guidance and technical assistance to commanders and management officials. Analysis reports will be developed to identify adverse trends, and data will be analyzed to make determinations regarding personnel matters affecting various types of military and civilian personnel and their families. Supervisors or managers will be advised when actions may affect productivity or mission effectiveness. Other related duties as assigned.

  • Must have at least 1-year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade, GS-09.
  • Specialized experience includes: ensuring the effective operation of satellite human resources interface with United States Air Force (USAF) servers and related human resources computers both hardware and software; preparing, coordinating, and implementing local procedures for system operations; developing and analyzing management products to determine the adequacy and accuracy of the PDS database; managing, directing, and controlling the operation of PDS to include the Military Personnel Data System (MilPDS), Virtual Personnel Center (vPC), Personnel Records Display Application (PRDA) Enterprise Output Manager (EOM) and others, and related systems interfaces; providing military personnel advisory services to commanders and staff on all personnel systems programs.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and provide formal and informal training to PDS users on various topics including database techniques, data security, search strategies, and recovery techniques.
  • Provide customer assistance to current and potential PDS users within the FSS and serviced organizations.
  • Provide military personnel advisory services to commanders and staff on all personnel systems programs.
